- provides opportunities for peer tutoring
- contributes to a positive and caring school culture
- contributes to more positive behaviour by providing positive role models
- develops pro-social values and skills
- involves parents
- develops responsibility
- builds self confidence
- develops empathy
- promotes inclusion
- discourages bullying

Our buddy program begins in term 4 of each year when our current year 5 students are buddied with incoming Foundation students. The two groups begin their buddy relationship getting to know each other during the transition sessions and then continuing to work together throughout the following year.
At the beginning of the year the remaining students are buddied up and our whole school buddy program goes into full swing. Buddy activities take place in formal and informal ways and it is great to see the friendships develop over the year.
