Transition Programs 2023.

A successful transition from kindergarten to primary, and from primary to secondary school involves a student being able to move as seamlessly as possible to their new setting. To ensure all students are supported in their transition, Stratford Primary School works in collaboration with local kindergarten and secondary schools to ensure their transition practice and programs provide appropriate personal, social and academic support to promote student engagement and wellbeing.

Year 6 to Year 7 Transition.

Year 6 to Year 7 transition begins in Term 1. Secondary Schools make contact with potential enrolments, giving out information about the transition process to their setting.

Each year, the department releases Year 6 to Year 7 placement information for schools and for parents/carers, with information packs available from the beginning of Term 2 for students commencing Year 7 the following year.

Kindergarten to Foundation Transition.

Throughout the year, Stratford Primary School maintains contact with local kindergartens and childcare providers to ensure a smooth transition for our new Foundation enrolments.

In Term 4 we host 4 transition program days, where our new enrolments take part in activities in their new school community.

The department supports Victorian government schools to maintain a fair and transparent enrolment process by providing standardised application and enrolment forms.

Stratford Primary School process enrolments in 2 stages:

  • Stage 1: Application form (optional) – captures enrolment enquiries or expressions of interest from parents/carers

  • Stage 2: Enrolment form (required) – captures detailed student information once there is a confirmed placement offer from the school.

Please refer to our Information Centre for Enrolment Information.
