Kitchen Garden

The Kitchen Garden Program has been focused on our beautiful – and very prolific – strawberry garden.  Harvesting these little beauties has almost been a daily activity, to get them before the birds (or our blue tongued lizard) get them. Students have enjoyed the true taste of strawberries over the last two weeks, enjoying them on their snack breaks… with more harvesting to come.

In the kitchen, Foundation Year 1 made Homemade Strawberry Pop Tarts while Years 3 to 6 made delicious cupcakes – mostly topped with … strawberries, of course.

Year 1/2 are making strawberry scrolls.  Apart from eating them freshly picked from the garden, students have been able to appreciate the taste of strawberries in recipes.
